The Verdict
Step past the open plan kitchen and crackling woodfire pizza oven and you’ll be transported to a little slice of the Amalfi Coast, right here in Broadbeach. We love Cucina Vivo’s classic dusty pink and seafoam blue colour palette, decorated with oversized pendant lights, plantation shutters and a chic white terrace overlooking The Star’s sparkling resort pool.
It’s here you’ll find Gold Coast’s most Instagrammable desserts. Cucina Vivo’s stunning new all-Italian dessert menu features house made cannoli, roast strawberry semifreddo and the Crostata al Limone caramalised lemon tart, all made to resemble edible works of art. Swoon.
But first, you must work your way through a menu of antipasti, handmade pastas and Alla Grigila mains (from the charcoal grill). Think: melt-in-your-mouth tuna carpaccio with dollops of crab and apple salad, crisp arancini balls with forest mushroom risotto, and don’t go past the tender Calamari Fritti with smatterings of baby octopus and dill aioli for dipping. Or, why not try the Maltagliati (a fancy name for pasta offcuts in Italian cooking) loaded with juicy bug tails, heirloom tomatoes and lobster bisque? And don’t get us started on the authentic woodfired pizzas…
Our tip? Don’t leave without trying Cucina Vivo’s legendary Cioccolato Rosso Ferrari. Fresh out of the freezer, it comes delivered to the table wafting with frost. Artfully, warm grappa-infused chocolate sauce is poured into its centre, melting from the inside out, then cracked open to reveal a mound of Stracciatella ice cream topping a pistachio crostata base. It’s bucket list dessert material, trust us.
