The verdict

Della Hyde has breathed new life into what was once a grand hotel on Oxford Street bringing good food, good booze and good times to thirsty Sydneysiders. This Darlinghurst bar is keeping things flirty and fresh with period lighting, tiled floors and brass finishes that make you feel as though you've been transported to another era.

To go along with its opulent interiors, Della Hyde has a particular focus on delicate cocktails and delicious bar food. The European and North African influenced food menu includes smaller bites and share plates including chorizo and herb arancini with parmesan mayo, a spiced bean, thyme, and cheese toastie, and a classic ceviche with prawn crackers.

And after having nailed four other Sydney institutions (i.e. The Botanist, Bondi Hardware, The Butler, and SoCal), you know that the cocktails are going to be top notch and have that surprisingly delicious twist on old favourites that we’ve come to expect. Take the Rumbo No. 5 for example, which combines rum with crème de menthe, pineapple, coconut and lime for a little tiki twist. But being committed to freshness and quality, the cocktail list will be updated every fortnight which basically means more drinking delight for us! Of course, a few delicious classics will always be available to whet your whistle, including their famous espresso martini.

And ICYMI, Della Hyde is all about the weeknight special. On Tuesdays, they’re slinging $1 dumplings and on Wednesday it’s all about the $1 wings (who said living in Sydney was expensive?). Thursdays are their old school RNB nights which will see you sipping $6 drinks, plus there’ll be a DJ from 9pm and free entry.
