One of the Sunshine Coast’s most beloved venues, , has been revitalised, transforming it into a major hub for dining, events, and entertainment.

Known for their success in the hospitality industry, including Brisbane’s award-winning venues and , the new owners—the Williams family—have invested over $500,000 in the stunning revamp.

Venue Manager Max Williams shared their vision for the former Mooloolaba Yacht Club, originally established in 1967, “We could see a significant opportunity to create an iconic destination for amazing waterfront weddings and events, as well as a place where people can enjoy stunning food or some cool drinks while overlooking the water.”

The upgrade includes a complete internal refurbishment, designed to provide a stunning entry statement, as well as state-of-the-art acoustics for live music and events.

With a nod to the venue’s long history of hosting weddings and special occasions, the family is determined to make Pier 33 the go-to spot for celebrating life’s milestones. “The Yacht Club has a long history of people celebrating their wedding day along with other major milestones, and our goal is to bring that back in a big way,” Max said.

The venue’s new theme, "Bringing it, local," reflects the Williams family’s commitment to the community. "Not only is the venue under local ownership, but we will employ locals, and where possible, our chef will source the finest ingredients to showcase in our menu on a daily basis," Max explained.

Adding to the excitement is the appointment of renowned chef Murray Paterson as group executive chef. With a career spanning major international venues, Murray brings global experience to Pier 33. “His experience with brands like Sofitel, Novotel, Sheraton, and The Four Seasons was exactly what we wanted to ensure our food offer was at the cutting edge of national and international trends,” Max added.

Pier 33’s relaunch also coincides with the introduction of a new Mooloolaba Ferry service. Operated by Coastal Cruises, the ferry provides a luxurious and convenient way for guests to access the venue, with co-owner Darren Smith stating: “We love the new look Pier 33, it’s an important destination for our business and it’s sure to become one of these ‘must visit’ experiences for locals and tourists alike.”

Consider this your sign to add the fresh-faced Pier 33 to your long lunching hit list, stat.
