The Verdict

All hail The Muriwai Deli, back open after a devastating enforced closure due to the havoc wreaked by last year's Cyclone Gabrielle. But now the boys are back stronger than ever. Opening from 8am Friday to Sunday and now on Friday and Saturday evenings at the brand-spanking new bar, come through for a bevvie or two.

is a collab between legendary coffee and pudding truck, Double Shot (world famous in this particular neck of the woods for their insane doughnuts and other delights) and another dynamo of the food truck scene, Double Parked (winners of Auckland's Most Sustainable Food Truck in 2020 and purveyors of seriously ace burgers, salads, tacos and more).

We also might add that this is a Muriwai-based and family-run business, Double Parked owned by twins Boyd and Cameron and Double Shot owned by little bro Bryce Steel and pal Damian Watson.

You'll find this rad spot located inside the 100-year-old Muriwai Lodge, serving up everything from coffee and sammies to toasties and sweet treats (including, yes, those famous doughnuts). Pro tip: walk off all those inevitable calories with a stroll along Muriwai Beach afterwards.

Kinfolk

Funny that the first thing I noticed about Kinfolk had little to do with the actual food—rather, it was the artwork on the back wall depicting three women on lilos, eating pasta. I like this place already, had been my immediate thought.
