The Verdict
After a few rumours, a little hearsay around the hospo traps and plenty of crossed fingers, has dropped the news that they’ll be opening their first southern state restaurant at Tullamarine wave park, URBNSURF.
For those who aren’t aware, the owners of Three Blue Ducks— Mark LaBrooy, Darren Robertson, Andy Allen, Chris Sorrell, Sam Reid-Boquist and Jeff Bennett—are avid surfers just as they are chefs, making the location for their latest outpost a no brainer.
Along with surfing and cooking, the TBD lads have a huge passion for sustainability and ethical dining. Like their other east coast venues, this locale will put these practices in place with the likes of on-site composting and herbs grown in-house. Wherever possible, they’ll also be sourcing ingredients from local producers and suppliers, while the drinks list will feature a healthy list of Victorian beers, wine and spirits.
The all-day diner pays homage to its sibling restaurants through several familiar dishes. At breakfast, expect the likes of spanner crab scramble, while lunch will the mussels brought out en masse. Coming into the later hours, several dishes from the rotisserie, pizza oven and charcoal pit will all be available for your perusal.
Three Blue Ducks at URBNSURF opens on Monday 30 November. Bookings can be made via their .
