The Verdict

Hidden away from the mayhem of Chapel Street, Eat’aliano by Pino is the embodiment of a local food gem. A TUL team favourite, Eat’aliano by Pino are nailing traditional Neapolitan-style food (and service).

Featuring a recently renovated menu, pizza is made ruota di carro (or “chariot wheel”) style. Incredibly large, puffy-crusted, ultra-thin pizza tastes as good as it looks. It’s no wonder with freshly made dough, pasta, sauce and the finest produce, there’s literally no way you can make a foodie-misstep.

The classic Margherita pizza is a must (even for foodies with unusually extravagant pizza orders), along with the Tartufata with mozzarella, mushroom cream, sausages, truffle oil and shaved parmigiano. Don’t worry; the cheeky Eat’aliano team will be sure to correct any well-intended mispronunciations.

Insanely soft, oozy Burrata (which is a fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream) is so delicate that it’s only available on weekends. Trust us, it’s worth the trip east.

Non-pizza menu options include a homemade pappardelle with slow cooked lamb ragu or seafood lasagne with lemon bechamel. Pair them with a boutique selection of local and Italian wines, cocktails and apéritif’s—good luck choosing between your favourite Italian dishes.

Dessert is a non-negotiable with a rich, chocolate-coated Nutella pizza with banana slices the absolute highlight. Creamy tiramisu layered with savoiardi biscuits, espresso coffee and mascarpone cheese is a showstopper.

The interior which features hanging plants, deep wood and a crafted blonde timber shelf is welcoming and elegant. Service is a rare combination of sincerity and heartfelt warmth, so you’ll walk away with a happy belly and a happy heart.
