The Verdict

Step back in time at restaurateur Scott Pickett’s newest venture, . The 100-seat bistro oozes charm with its antique-inspired interiors and classic European menu, set inside the historic walls of the Normanby Chambers building. Think luxurious gold and brass fittings, dark timber, checkerboard tiles, and hand-crafted finishing touches—classic European sophistication. 

You know the menu is good when you can’t pronounce the items, right? Some highlights include the King George whiting ratatouille, poulet au cidre, and the jellied egg and smoked eel consommé. Don’t stress though, they’ve also got some easier favourites like Cape Grim porterhouse on the bone and a seafood platter. The opulence doesn’t stop there, save some space for a signature chocolate and cherry mousse. 

The floor-to-ceiling wine cellar is in pride of place in the bistro, and there’s no shortage of quality wines in there. We’re talking Grand Cru Burgundies and some premium local wines all curated by the respected sommelier, Hannah Day, and beverage manager, Clint Fox. 

Chancery Lane is open for all occasions, from drinks and nibbles through to private dining. We recommend setting aside a leisurely evening to make the most of this indulgent menu.
