The restaurant has no conventional kitchen, meaning the team utilises the pizza oven to tackle those tasty guys. While you're there breeze through that wine list and load up on the comte and mushroom croquettes, anchovy toast, a must, and the burrata with fresh stone fruits and tomato.
France Soir

These guys have been nailing Joie De Vivre longer than most, dating back to '86 to be precise. You can't miss Entrecôte in a guide to Melbourne's best steaks. In fact, the Prahran good-timers even landed a spot on , which is not to be taken lightly. The French Brasserie-inspired venue means business with its whole menu, but that perfectly cooked the steaks are what you're there for. Their Entrecôte Signature Steak Frites using Rangers Valley Black Market 270 days grain-fed angus beef, frites (not too salty, which we love) and their secret herb butter sauce is a go to. Our fave spot to sit is the terrace, where if you're feeling cheap and cheerful you can grab a cheeky cheeseburger and beer combo for $36.90 as well, but more on Melbourne's best burgers over here.
Victor Churchill
953 High Street, Armadale
The butchers to end all butchers, Victor Churchill's stunning space in Armadale is an ode to the craft. Although primarily a retail operation, the diner at the back of the end of the shop is a chance to sample the goods on-site. Tackle the O'Connor eye fillet or opt for the Rangers Valley grain-fed 1kg Bistecca, top things off with a lashing of Cafe De Paris and you're all set to experience one of the best steaks in Melbourne.

The Mitre Tavern

The Mitre Tavern is Melbourne's oldest pub. It's so old in fact that it technically can't be proven but they reckon it was built around 1850. That's a long time to be serving up some pints and they've definitely learned a thing or two in that time. Inside, expect to duck, people were a lot shorter 200 years ago. They serve an excellent Guinness, but best of all they also serve a downright excellent steak. There's something for every taste here but if you're really hungry for a meat-fest get into the Butchers Board for Two with a 200g eye fillet, a 300g wagyu rump, lamb cutlets, Kransky sausage, pork ribs & corn ribs with onion rings and steak chips for $170. You better be mopping up a lot of beer.
Terminus Hotel & Cinder
492 Queens Parade, Fitzroy North
The Terminus Hotel, usually known for its craft beers and epic footy shindigs (more pubs over here), actually has possibly one of the best pub restaurants in the whole land inside its 150-year-old walls: Cinder. They're heavy on the steaks, ranging from a sensible 300g Cape Grim striploin for $49, up to a very unsensible 1.3kg tomahawk steak from Margret River for $295 that is supposed to be shared. They do their big proteins on a Josper grill giving them an extra bit of smokiness that's just perfect. If you're a real steak lover they've even got a where you can get your mitts on some special release dry-aged steaks, knives and have a direct line with thier chefs. How good.
Brandon Hotel

Carlton North has been well-watered at the for years. The suburb can add well fed now too. The corner classic hotel, in the backstreets of Melbourne’s inner-north, is believed to have been built in the 1870s and since 2006, publican Andrew Boreham has been at the helm. Wile they’ve got all your usual trappings and pub classics, our fave is their little in house beer named after their dog Lily and brewed by 2 Brothers, and their steak. They knock our a char-grilled 300g Bindaree porterhouse steak with frites, endive salad and you can pick your own sauce for $49. Hot tip, they also do a steak night on a Tuesday for just $29 with a drink and happy hour, but more steak nights below.
Railway Club Hotel

Touted as the original steak house of Melbourne, Railway Club Hotel is one of Port Melbourne's most beloved pubs. The historic Victorian-era building on Raglan Street shields a world of chargrilled perfection with a range of different cuts from pasture-fed rib eyes from Tasmania's Cape Grim Beef, to dry-aged T-Bones and Gippsland grain-fed porterhouse. Wrap your laughing gear around their wagyu rump served with chimichurri, slaw and triple cooked potatoes with rocoto (baby capsicum) aioli. Dang! That is a lot of goodness for just $39. We suggest washing it all down with their Chilli Cha margarita for an unstoppable combo.
Bonny Bar
177 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy
Bonny Bar is really a two-fer here, because they run two bangin' steak nights, one on Wednesdays and one on Sunday ... aptly named Waygu Wednesdays and Sundays. This knee-slappin', country-vibin' good times spot slings their wagyu rump cap special for only $30. It comes with some fries, fresh leaves and diane sauce (old school, love that). Pair it with their smashing list of cocktails wines and beers for the best experience. Best of all, they’re not just meat-focused with plenty of burger, vegetarian and pescetarian options available. Cheers to that.
Stokehouse Pasta & Bar

The St Kilda seaside dining institution, Stokehouse opened back in the 80s has long stood as one of Melbourne's best restaurants (for more on those head over here). Sitting right on the foreshore Stokehouse Pasta & Bar is slinging their reef and beef combo on a Tuesday night. For the lipsmacking price of just $32, you can chow down on a steak cooked over redgum coals, a king prawn, spiced garlic herb butter, hand-cut chips, and onion rings. All served with some of Melbourne's most iconic views.
Normandy Wine & Grill

Everything Normandy does is excellent, from very cheffy French-style seafood, all the way to its big hitter: steaks. The best part is they’re serving up absolute winners like their Cape Grim and black angus cuts with bordelaise, béarnaise or peppercorn sauce and perfectly salted and crunchy hand-cut fries half price on Tuesdays. Their whole grill menu, including any specials, are 50 per cent off and if you do the maths on a flash steak, well, that's happy days. PS: Hands down, this might be some of the best steak in Melbourne, make sure you book ahead accordingly or prepare for potential disappointment.
Angus & Bon
168 Greville Street, Prahran

Resting on a corner in Prahran's Greville Street, Angus & Bon is a chic operation. The moody-lit venue reveals little from the outside and it's not until you enter the New York-inspired eatery, that's funnily enough named after the brothers who formed AC/DC, that you're met with the intimate charm of the space. Get along on Tuesday nights for their 250g porterhouse cooked to your liking (we say rare for this one, but to each their own) paired with fries, salad, and beef jus for just $38. If you're clever you can time steak night with their happy hour from 4-6pm with pints of Guinness only a tenner, as well as other wines and beers from $8 and cocktails from $15. That's a cheap and cheerful night out.
