If there ever was one way to find out which Gold Coast venues will become popular, it would be to look at Scott Imlach's portfolio. The brains behind a plethora of top Gold Coast institutions including , , , Precinct Brewing and Nightcap, it's clear Scott has the Midas touch. So, it came as no surprise when his latest venue, opened with a resounded bang and has already garnered a loyal following.
The freshly-opened Tank Bar & Dining overlooks the bustling Gold Coast Highway in Palm Beach, occupying the two-storey building formerly occupied by Wildernis. Standing out like a striking beacon to thirsty patrons, Tank is no wallflower. The sprawling watering hole boasts both an upstairs and downstairs bar, while umbrellas and benches spill out onto the pavement, beckoning you in for relaxed afternoon drinks.
Quirky signs and posters adorn the walls, while greenery tumbles from above in the brick and white-washed space. While the downstairs bar is darker with wood tones, wander through a fairy light-lined corrider and staircase leading to upstairs, and you'll find a white-washed bar area with huge windows letting sunlight and ocean breezes flow through.
Now, the brews. In true Imlach style, craft beer is at the forefront of Tank and it boasts ten rotating taps, with a focus on local beers like Precinct Brewing and . We love that Gold Coast favourite, seltzer is on tap and if beer really isn't your thing (no judgement, we swear), you're covered with an array of classic cocktails.
While we would normally say pair your food with a beer, we think 'pair your beer with food' is just right for Tank. The casual, pub-style menu is simple, yet delicious—the Tank team knows not to change ag good thing. Start with some share-style snacks like cauliflower wings and pork belly bites before moving onto the larger meals like burgers, steak, parmies and bao buns. We're a sucker for the Steak Sanga burger and the karaage chicken bao buns.
If you're looking to save some coin, visit between Wednesday and Sunday from 3pm to 6pm and you'll score $5 tap beers, house wines and 50c wings. Yep, even on weekends. Tank is also slinging up some cheeky daily deals, including $25 steak and sides on Wednesdays, $20 parmi and beer on Thursday and $20 burger, fries and beer all weekend long. Dangerous in the best kind of way.
Oh, and there's also live music every Friday to Sunday and you don't even need to book. Next time you're looking for an elevated watering hole experience, round up your friends and head to Tank Bar & Dining and let the afternoon pass you by, beer in hand.
