Kirra’s dining scene is on a meteoric rise and nothing affirms this more than the opening of another venue from the team behind Gold Coast icon . Meet .
Located on the beachfront former Bread and Butter site, Hanks is bringing an elegant touch of coastal Europe to the Kirra and quite frankly, we couldn’t be more thrilled.
Created by the experienced team behind Siblings, Tracey and Peter Cianci, TJ Cianci and Jarrod Kyle, Hanks was designed with the laidback Kirra lifestyle in mind and neighbourhood spirit at its heart.
Expansive open windows let the salty seabreeze flow through the relaxed European bistro-inspired venue, custom black-and-white geometric tiles are contrasted by brass accents and an impressive Sovrano marble bar commands the 100-seat venue.
Every carefully curated aspect of Hanks—from the buttery tones of the textured walls, reminiscent of the nearby sand dunes, to the nostalgic artwork lining the walls to the brass archways peeking into the private dining room—blends laidback Gold Coast vibes with European elegance.
Brought to life by local talents and , Hanks is, without a doubt, visually striking. And as for the name? It’s a heartfelt tribute to the family’s beloved German Shepherd, Hank.
Once you’ve soaked up the venue, turn your attention to the equally impressive menu, which celebrates the flavours of coastal Europe. Sharing—whether that’s great food, beautiful drinks or cherished memories—is at the heart of Hanks, as reflected in the share-style menu.
Executive Chef Blake Fewtrell has thoughtfully crafted the menu around the concept that “the platter is the table”. Take your pick from freshly baked breads by , paired with cured and sliced meats, plus a selection of small plates including burrata with caramelised honey and fennel seeds and charred zucchini with stracciatella and mint. Think: your favourite charcuterie board but make it better. Wayyy better.
On the large plates front, the bucatini alfredo with egg yolk jam, crispy prosciutto and cracked pepper is not to be missed and you would be remiss not to order the chargrilled spatchcock with 'Nduja butter and charred lemon.
As hard as it is, try to keep room for dessert—the flaky, ricotta-stuffed sfogliatelle is only rivalled by the dark chocolate mousse with cherries and pistachios.
Of course, no Siblings Kirra venue would be complete without an exceptional drinks menu. Hanks' 40-strong cocktail list—most of which have been uniquely crafted for the venue—will surpass even the highest of expectations.
Consider this your sign to unfold a napkin at Hanks this summer.
