Capricorn Distilling Co. is Burleigh’s newest small-batch urban distillery and this newcomer to the craft spirits scene is already making waves. Recently opening its doors in Burleigh Heads, Capricorn Distilling Co. was originally established in Rockhampton, under the well-loved Saleyards Distillery name. Following their success, the masterminds behind this gem decided to expand production and bring their delicious tipples to the Gold Coast and we sure aren’t complaining.
This industrial craft distillery produces high-end rums, liqueurs and gins and the Capricorn team are passionate about producing premium ‘as real as it gets’ spirits.
Their signature spiced rum took out the hotly-contested title of ‘World’s Best Spiced Rum’ at London’s prestigious World Rum Awards to set your expectations high, and prepared to have them exceeded. If gin is more your thing, Capricorn Distilling brews up a lush oak barrel-aged gin and a signature summer gin infused with 19 different botanicals, including fresh native Australian finger lime, ruby grapefruit and lemon myrtle.
To fully appreciate these sips, the cellar doors are open every weekend and you can also pop in for a free tour every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Led by one of the head distillers, you’ll learn about the Capricorn story, the process of distillation and different types of botanicals, all whilst sampling the range of spirits. Yes, that’s a free tour with complimentary tastings of the award-winning spirits included. Winning.
