Tucano’s is a fun-filled bar and restaurant blending a modern take on Tiki with a tropical-meets-Mediteranean food menu.

The vibrant venue with wavy banquettes, a disco ball-inspired room, bright courtyard and weekly live music is all about a good time, drawing from the team’s past ventures including Potts Point’s The Roosevelt and now-closed CBD pop-up About Time.

For drinks, expect an aperitivo twist on typical Tiki elements to balance the genre's typical sweetness, in drinks like the Bird of Paradise with tequila, apricot, mango, lime and chilli-infused Braulio, the Lilikoi with Makers Mark, Campari, bitter rhubarb and quandong, or the Boogie Wonderland: a layered rum-based slushie of dragonfruit, pineapple, coconut and fino sherry, topped with blue curacao pearls.

A shared cocktail served in a flaming disco ball and four taps dedicated to batched cocktails continue the jovial servings, which runs through to the food menu by chef Naomi Lowry (formerly of Biota, Pilu and ByFassnidge).

Designed to share, food looks like golden mozzarella and anchovy carozza, slow-cooked beef short rib luau with fondant-style taro, daily-changing trapizzino pockets, and kingfish bruschetta with yuzu aioli, jalapeño salsa verde and fermented chilli.

To finish, don’t skip the Mai Tai rhum baba with salted mascarpone and passionfruit.
