Perth peeps, get ready—our favourite light festival is back and even bigger, better and brighter than ever. The will be lighting up our beautiful city from 12 to 21 August, and what better way to brighten up the chilly winter nights (and our Instagram feeds) than a wonderland of light and gorgeous art?
Anyone who has been before knows this festival is a whirlwind of glittering lights and guaranteed good times, but each year just seems to get better and better. This year is no exception, brought back to us by the festival now with more light installations, projections, interactive events and performances—our heads are spinning already.
One of the absolute must-sees this year will definitely be 'Evanescent' from Aussie artist Zara Pasfield. This is a 20-metre long 'art-chitectural' experience, be sure to keep your camera handy as you lose yourself among the giant illuminated spheres.
A much-loved favourite of the Winter Lights Festival is the famous light projection on the facades of St Georges Terrace heritage buildings, which is going next level in 2021, sporting projections by Electric Canvas on the Old Perth Boys School.
Performance art by Fliptease and Red Top Creations promises to bring added energy to the festival, with roving lantern-lit physical theatre and light-themed dances throughout the 10-night event.
Gather up your mates or lock in a date and get ready for Brookfield Place to turn it on.
