A much-loved sport among young and old alike, we thought we’d see what all the fuss was about. It does provide some great BBQ dinners after all. Fishing is often seen as a holiday activity but little did we know how many fishing gems we have right under our noses.

Here are the best fishing spots in and around Perth and as a thank you, we’ll accept a few of your frozen catches.

Narrows Bridge

Perth

Who would’ve guessed that one of the best fishing spots in Perth is right in the heart of our city? You will pretty much score anywhere along the Swan River but the Narrows Bridge is one of the best-known spots to catch a bite. Grab something to eat at The Windsor Hotel before and enjoy the sun setting on the city skyline while you’re throwing in the line.

North Mole

Fremantle

Enjoy the Fremantle Doctor at North Mole, plus the luck of catching some damn big fish. Sitting pretty at the end of Fremantle Harbour, this place is a big hit among locals so make sure you arrive before the 6pm rush. Treat yourself to a bevvy around the corner at Little Creatures after your big catch. And if North Mole isn’t performing you can always pop over to South Mole, which also has a famed reputation.

Floreat Drain

This suburban Perth beach is still an iconic tailor spot and a beautiful location along the coastline. Bring your dog, pack a picnic and set up for an afternoon of fishing. The beach will get packed with other locals so our tip is to get there before everyone else does.

Ricey Beach And Radar Reef

Rottnest Island

WA’s favourite island getaway offers amazing marine life. You can enjoy the fish while snorkelling at The Basin or if you’re wanting a good holiday BBQ, head to one of the many fishing beaches. Catch the bus or ride your bike to and for some great swimming holes and reef fishing.

White Hills

Mandurah

The one hour drive to Mandurah is definitely worth the fishing theme park you’ll find among the beaches. If you’ve got a four-wheel drive, we recommend . This long beautiful stretch of coast also makes for a good surfing spot if you really want to make the most of it. Plus, it's one of the closest four-wheel drive beaches to Perth that’s good for fishing.

Lancelin Jetty

Lancelin

Lancelin is a worthwhile drive for many reasons, but one of the most popular is fishing. Lancelin Jetty is an easy spot to access, offers plenty of like-minded fishing locals ready to lend a few tips and boasts an amazing view. Why not hire a beach shack for the weekend and grab a bite to eat at Lancelin’s favourite  cafe?
