22 Of Perth’s Best BYO Restaurants To Try This Weekend

By

We love a fancy wine list as much as the next person, but you know what we’re loving more at the moment? Saving our hard-earned cash (special thanks to the cozzie livs). Going out can be a major indulgence these days—and we obvi love getting out and about—but sometimes we need to put our budgeting hats on.

That’s where these epic BYO hotspots come in handy. We’re not talking about your local Chinese haunt that you already know you can bring your booze to. We’re talking about places with incredible food and a killer atmosphere. In other words, not the places you’d necessarily think are BYO. We’ve done the hard yards and scoured Perth/Boorloo for the best BYO spots in town. So sit back, relax, and scoff up this list.

Miss Chow's Petit

37 Bay View Terrace, Claremont WA 6010

This dumpling hotspot is going BYO on Wednesday nights! Grab some friends, grab a bottle and grab a seat at for some steaming dumplings and Asian-inspired bites made from the freshest Australian ingredients. A perfect opportunity for a little mid-week night on the town.

Francoforte Spaghetti Bar

4/189 William Street, Northbridge

Northbridge restaurant Francoforte does pasta and they do it well. Hit up the bottle shop on your way there, then take a seat and try to decide on just one pasta—which is harder than you’d expect considering the menu is pretty short. The layout here is simple and unpretentious, and that, combined with the food, makes for a pretty good night out with pals.

Casa Pizzeria

397/399 Oxford Street, Mount Hawthorn

Park up next door to at their delicious pizza bar of the same name. They’re not messing around when it comes to the quintessential Italian food of choice: grab some snacks along with a Rossa or Bianca-based pizza, paired with your fave bottle of vino. If you opt for something from their in-house bottle shop, you’ll score free corkage. It’s a win-win.

Short Order Burger Co

Various Locations

Burgers and beer go hand-in-hand which is why we were pretty chuffed to find out Short Order Burger Co is BYO. Sink your teeth into their epic BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger and wash it down with a bev. With all those savings, you can afford to order a double.

Rossonero

18 Lyric Lane, Maylands

Pizza is even more delicious when booze is involved, especially booze of the BYO kind. Rossonero in Maylands charges $2 per person for the pleasure of drinking your favourite wine, beer or cider alongside their incredible pizzas. The Honey Boy with hot sopressa, grape tomatoes, mozzarella, chilli, honey, fresh basil and parmesan is a must.

Tsukaya

Fancy something boujee but can’t splash out on Nobu? No stress. Ex-Nobu chef Pepe Tsukayama opened on Scarborough Beach Road for those on the hunt for seriously fresh sashimi with a Peruvian twist. It’s open Wednesday to Saturday evenings for quality nosh and BYO bevs.

Marumo

22/145 Stirling Highway, Nedlands

If you manage to get into Marumo you’ll be surprised to find out not only do you get to enjoy a decadent 7-course seasonal menu, you get to bring your own booze. How much better could this possibly get? Bookings open every few months and sell out in a matter of minutes. Mark it in your diary.

Lady Of Ro

345 Rokeyby Road, Subiaco

Subiaco restaurant Lady Of Ro is serving some of the best Greek eats you’ll ever taste. The vibe is cosy and fun, and you can bring along a bottle of wine for a small corkage fee (which doesn’t apply if you opt for the chef’s tasting menu). The freshest ingredients are incorporated into all the dishes, so you know you’re in for a good time.

Monsterella

46 Grantham Street, Wembley

It’s clear the Italians appreciate a BYO abode and we’re so here for it. There is nothing not to love about Monsterella. The pizzas are next level good and the handmade pastas are melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We love this spot for a date night or a catch up with mates, and you can bring along your own wine or beer to save those dollars.

Threecoins Italian Trattoria

2/776 Beautfort Street, Inglewood

Owned and run by the Trequattrini family (the English translation is Threecoins), this Inglewood gem is a cosy little joint dishing out authentic regional Italian cuisine. Ticking all the boxes with red and white checked tablecloths, a wood-fired pizza oven, super friendly Italian staff and BYO vino on Mondays and Tuesdays, Threecoins Italian Trattoria might just become your new fave Italian restaurant in Perth.

Tagine By Mashawi

127 Oxford Street, Leederville

It’s not every day you stumble across a good Moroccan restaurant in Perth—especially not one that is BYO—which is why Tagine By Mashawi really caught our attention. The food is authentic, scrumptious and reasonably priced, and if you’re lucky enough to score a table on a Saturday night, the vibes are electric.

Pizzaca

2/168 Scarborough Beach Road, Scarborough

Tucked away in Scarborough, Pizzaca is full of tasty surprises. They do amazing pizza and pasta, and the cakes here are crazy delicious. They’re fully licensed but offer BYO on Tuesdays—this is an absolute fave with the locals, so you’d be wise to book ahead.

The Prophet

907A Albant Highway, East Victoria Park

The Prophet in East Vic Park makes some of the best Lebanese food in the whole of Perth. The hummus and baba ganoush here are both amazing and even the pita is worth writing home about.

Miss Potz

3/609 Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley

From the living legends who brought us Mr Munchies comes Miss Potz, a restaurant that combines Asian fusion delights with tapas style eating. Tucked down Beaux Lane, Miss Potz is packing some serious flavours into an affordable menu, featuring winners like Mamak style popcorn chicken, twice cooked pork belly, and deep fried banana fritters for dessert. Book in on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to make the most of BYO wine.

Pappagallo

250 Oxford Street, Leederville

Pappagallo in Leederville make some of Perth’s best pizzas, and their antipasto menu is drool-worthy. These guys are licensed, however you can bring your own wine for a lunchtime treat. We suggest you make it a long one.

Rym Tarng

Shop 8, Bicton Central Shopping Centre, Bicton

is a teeny-tiny joint dishing up some epic Thai street food. Its hole-in-the-wall location oozes charm, and it also helps that the eats are mouth-wateringly good. Try the deliciously crunchy papaya salad for the ultimate foodie venture.

Bonsai

30 Roe Street, Northbridge

Gear up for a really special, authentic Japanese dining experience. Bonsai’s approach of ‘try a bit of everything’ is right up our street, so gather your crew and order up for the table. It’s also BYO on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays for the boozers in the group.

Capri

21 South Terrace, Fremantle

Anywhere that serves complimentary soup with a main meal gets two ticks from us, so the fact it's BYO too makes this spot a no brainer. has been thriving since the 50s, providing the people of Fremantle with honest, hearty Italian meals and quality service. Do yourself a favour and order a pasta dish, and don’t be afraid to pack on the parmesan.

Neighbourhood Pizza

7 Anvil Lane, Mount Hawthorn

By now you’ll have realised something important: pizza and BYO are a match made in heaven. We’re not complaining. Head to Neighbourhood Pizza for a post-work wind down and order all the carbs you can possibly devour.

China Tang

7/88 Broadway Fair Shopping Centre, Crawley

What’s better than dumplings? Not a lot. Fried chicken is one thing that comes pretty close, and wine has to be up there too. Where can you have all three? . This spot is tucked away, but still somehow manages to be bustling at all hours of the day. We put this down to the fact it's astonishingly cheap, BYO, and they make the best xiao long bao (soup dumplings) we’ve ever had.

Namaste India

18 Angove Street, North Perth

There’s a wise saying that goes: count the memories, not the calories. That saying comes from the good folks at Namaste India. We’re going to take that into account when ordering their mind-blowing butter chicken with a side of naan and roti. Throw in some BYO beers or a couple of bottles of wine, and you'll be feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
