The Verdict

If there was ever a good thing to come out of lockdown then this would have to be it.

Cult fave have been thrilling Auckland’s CBD foodies since 2014 with their artisanal, health conscious and locally-produced food, wine and flowers—but since the last lockdown owners Alison and Paul Dyson have decided to expand operations to bless the good people of Mount Eden with a well-placed grocer.

Stocked to the brim with fresh fruit and veg, organic meat, cheese and yoghurt, olive oil, pickles and everything else your larder could desire, they even have a chocolate cabinet slinging your choice of individual chocolates from the delectable Honest chocolat and Cara Telle—we’ve heard tell of a gin and tonic flavour which will obviously be a must try.

The knowledgeable staff will talk to you about exactly where your food comes from, in some cases down to the very farm, and their milk is sold in returnable glass bottles. How good. Offering ready-made meals made in their Victoria Street East kitchen you’re sure to find plenty to whet your appetite here. Did someone say pies?

There will also be a resident florist out the back—accessible through the carpark—who will make bouquets to order and keep the selection at the front of the shop constantly refreshed.

Keep an eye out for the soon-to-be-fully stocked cellar in the back featuring the best wine from NZ and around the world.

Welcome to the neighbourhood Scarecrow.
