The Verdict
Miss Moonshine’s is the place to go when you’re in the mood for fall-off-the-bone short ribs, or a slightly naughty ball of deep-fried mac 'n' cheese. The former Ponsonby joint has relocated to Silverdale and is all about wood smoked, slow-cooked meat inspired by the pitmasters of the American barbeque scene.
Open for lunch and dinner, the Miss Moonshine's crew churn out the best of American-meets-Kiwi fare. No doubt you'll want to order the entire menu, but when push comes to shove, the beef brisket, triple cooked turkey wings, and cherry vanilla moonshine shake are not to be missed.

Bistro Saine
Wander down the cobblestones of Saint Patrick’s Square and you might happen upon the luxurious first floor of newly-built Hotel Indigo, housed in a restored heritage building. You can enter through the other side too—the Albert Street entrance blending into the concrete jungle as if it was always there (just look for the elegant Bistro Saine font out front).
Takapuna Surf Club
When you hear the words surf club, what comes to mind? I think of ice cream, pizza, and Alf Stewart (I haven't watched Home & Away in years, but I understand the Summer Bay Surf Club is still standing. Poor old Mr. Stewart, I'm not so sure).
