Stay
Plantation Island Resort
Resort living doesn’t come much better than . And eating. And swimming. And adventuring. It’s everything you want from a resort, backed up by a string of daily activities—from basket weaving and kava ceremonies through to Drua canoes and cultural awareness sessions.
It’s also one of the top spots for an open-air, beachfront massage. The sound of lapping waves while we’re mid sunburn-cooling treatment? Yes please.
The good life here extends to the coral reefs, too. Just off the resort’s coast, you’ll find BULA Reef, the largest rescue reef of its kind. Created with , it’s packed with thousands of baby corals to help keep these precious species safe.
Tokoriki Resort
You had us at unlimited massages, . At this sleek adults-only resort, you can purchase a 3-day pass that spoils you with endless 60-minute massages. Or, dial up the pampering with a couples massage and three-course dinner on the veranda of your villa—seen to by your butler and Tokoriki musicians, of course.
In between basking in the resort’s next-level gardens, your villa's slice of beach and the freshwater infinity pool, there are endless activities to dive into. Help prepare the Fijian Lovo one night, eat it another. Sip on fruit-filled cocktails, partake in a traditional kava ceremony, go hunting for crabs, and race them against other guests. We'll see you there.
Eat
Crab Shack
It’s not a proper island vacay without cracking into seafood with a feast at a seaside food shack. And you’ll find exactly that at the suitably named in Korotogo.
Mud Crab is at the top of the menu naturally, but you’re the master of your own food coma here. Choose between which moreish sauces you’d like your crab cooked in (garlic butter, Fiji Curry in coconut gravy, Thai sauces) along with the sides you’ll no doubt be scooping up every last bit with.
Want more seafood? The Boil Corner lets you throw together all kinds of shellfish in herby garlic butter, while their three-tier seafood platter is a true sight to behold—and a feat to finish.
Hot Bread Kitchen
Sure, you might be on Island time, but is worth setting an early alarm for. Specifically, their Cream Buns. Made fresh daily, these buns are pillowy-light, huge, lashed with a rather magical whipped cream and topped with a good dollop of jam.
Better yet, one of the Hot Bread Kitchen spots is a stone’s throw from Port Denarau terminal, which means your pre-adventure snacks are sorted. They’ll even take pre-orders and get them packed up, should you wish to bring a slab back to your resort for midnight snacking.
Nadina Restaurant
You’re on holiday, you don’t want to think. We get it, and so do the legends over at . Depending on the time of year, this waterfront restaurant will have an epic platter—or five—on the cards to sort you out with seasonal treats to give you the ultimate taste of the island.
Kusima platters, Roast platters, Totoka platters, lobster platters—heaped high and beautifully displayed. Along with a guaranteed food coma, you’ll also find top-notch kava, options for all dietaries, and seriously pretty sunset views here.
Wicked Walu Seafood Restaurant
For a dinner moment that feels straight out of a movie, book yourself into the Warwick Fiji resort's on the stunning Coral Coast. Within picturesque palms swaying overhead, sea breezes, near-panoramic ocean views and a killer golden hour, you can live your best White Lotus life for an evening. Even inside, it’s a sight to behold: the floors are soft sand, the ceilings are high, and the mood is well and truly perfect.
Sip
Bula Coffee
We can all agree that one of the best kinds of holiday experiences is one you can bring back and recreate. A big bag of beans from is just that.
You'll want to set aside an hour for their “Crop to Cup Coffee Tour” at the Bula Coffee HQ in Sigatoka. It’ll be an up-close and personal look at the roastery’s inner workings and unique way they brew—with coffee cup in hand. More than just a darn good brew, Bula Coffee is seriously invested in their local farmers, villagers, and the sustainable success of the Fijian industry—we’ll raise a cup to that.
Cloud 9
The name isn’t lost on this gem: a serene, two-storey, sail-flocked, floating bar somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. Part-beach club, part mirage, Cloud 9 is a paradise in the middle of a sweeping lagoon, reached only by a 40-minute boat ride from Port Denarau—and yes, they offer transfers.
Once onboard, anything goes. Plonk yourself in the sea, groove to the beats of the house DJs, sprawl out on a cabana, tuck into woodfired pizzas, or sip on something as turquoise as the water around you. Rinse and repeat.
MalaMala Beach Club
Luxury doesn’t come better than a day on a private island—well, one shared with a handful of fellow holiday-makers, that is. Enter Mamanuca Islands’ impossibly chic . Think of anything you’d want to do in, on or around the water, and you’ll find it here.
Want to explore the big, wide blue waters? They've got the gear for snorkelling, stand-up boarding and kayaking. Feeling peckish? A whole à la carte menu of Pacific dishes to feast on, with cocktails aplenty. Need to cool down? There are pools, stretchers and cabanas galore.
Sipping, dipping, eating and repeating sure is tiring work— so make sure you book in for an open-air, traditional Bobo Massage before cruising back home.
Clear waters and hidden gems have you daydreaming of your next escape? Fiji’s endless options are just a 3- 4 hour flight from Aotearoa. Gather more ideas on where to eat, play and stay over on —thank us later.
