Flinders Lane is the beating heart of Melbourne’s dining scene, a laneway where culinary magic happens.
I was lucky enough to run a bar in Hosier Lane for a couple of years, giving me basically license to eat, drink and merry-make my way around the precinct.
This is undoubtedly one of Melbourne’s foodie hotspots. From hole-in-the-wall gems to high-end hotspots, this iconic strip is a dining paradise.
It’s worth noting some of these spots are a little off Flinders Lane itself, but they’re just a hop, skip and a jump off the main track down some of Melbourne’s grungy, graffiti-filled and vibey laneways.
If you're after Melbourne's best CBD restaurants head over here otherwise there's stacks of other cuisines on offer like best Italian restaurants, best Indian restaurants, best Japanese restaurants, best Chinese restaurants and best cheap restaurants.
Whether you’re feeling modern Australian fare, fiery Asian fusion, or smoky Argentinian grills, Flinders Lane has it all. It’s a place where chefs push boundaries, flavours collide, and every meal feels like an event.

Elio's Place
1/238 Flinders Lane, Melbourne CBD
Elio’s Place is where heart and hospitality meet; two siblings working hand in hand to open a European-style bistro—a nod to their late father—painting a deep affection for their Italian heritage. With an extensive menu, keep your eyes peeled for their hero dishes—think beef carpaccio, with celery, shallots and a sprinkling of aged parmesan, or an entire flounder with burnt lemon and bottarga. Of course this bistro would not earn itself the European title without embracing the aperitivo custom, to its fullest, providing drinks and snack-sized plates from 3pm-5pm daily.
"Elio's Place is pretty heavily Italian leaning and their pasta slaps. There's always one on the menu, so if you're looking for the best Italian on Flinders Lane, this would be my recommendation. Plus, they do a very wallet-friendly $45 fixe prix lunch which I love," OB真人视讯 Melbourne editor Navarone Farrell says.
