One of three venues inside the all new GPO, which has reopened after a mammoth $9 million transformation, The Tax Office will wipe all those old memories of the GP-No right out of your head. This casual but sophisticated eatery and bar features an incredible centre bar that rises up until it meets a mirrored ceiling, giving the illusion of never ending bottle-filled shelves—just what you want on a Friday night.

While TAMA across the hall is dedicated to Euro-inspired eats and The Gatsby upstairs is all about the sips, The Tax Office has a foot in both worlds. Perfect for a quick lunch or dinner, the food menu offers up share plates like sticky lamb ribs, haloumi fries and BBQ beef bao buns, as well as hearty mains like chicken carbonara, pappardelle duck ragu and black angus sirloin. Here for a drink? There’s an array of wines, beers and spirits to choose from.

But wait, there’s more—opening soon is The Tax Office’s late night offering, a separate area featuring a dance floor lit by jaw-dropping two-metre-wide gold disco balls, luxe VIP booths and mezzanine levels. Here you’ll be able to dance the night away to resident DJs—basically it means GPO should be your go-to Valley spot no matter what kind of vibe you’re after.

If you need more incentive to check it out, in celebration of its opening month, The Tax Office is ‘Shouting Brisbane’—until 14 August, you can sign up to score a $25 voucher to spend in venue, whether you want to grab a buttermilk chicken burger for lunch or enjoy a drink on the house.
