New Farm’s dining landscape just got a facelift with Common Vice stepping into the spotlight, taking over the reins from the legendary Bitter Suite. Dishing up bold and mouth-watering pan-Asian plates, this cosy neighbourhood bar and eatery is set to be your new local.

Transforming the old brick building on the leafy corner of Welsby and Lamington Streets into something with a little more pizazz, the Common Vice team have almost completed their chic makeover that blends heritage elements with contemporary flair. That gorgeous exposed brick still has pride of place, but it will soon be complemented by the addition of a snug wine cellar and extensive wine list, sleek new outdoor furniture and landscaping and a few more updates to the interior—so stay tuned.

Now let’s dive into the real reason we are here—the food and booze. Brace yourself for a flavour-packed menu that does not shy away from bold flavours. Picture this: whole baked Korean camembert topped with kimchi, crispy five-spice fried chicken, and beef tataki drenched ponzu and ginger sauce. And don’t get us started on the heavenly array of bao buns. Spice enthusiasts, make sure you dive into the must-order nasi goreng - it’s a sure way to get your taste buds firing. Wrap up your feast on a sweet note with their irresistible creamy yuzu cheesecake, elevated to perfection with biscoff and a mango and berry salsa.

But wait, these guys aren’t done yet. Starting February 18, they’ll be flipping the script and adding a breakfast menu to their offering, so get ready to indulge in these Asian-inspired delights from dawn to dusk. In the meantime, you can take advantage of their selection of craft beers, classic cocktails and the beginnings of a stellar wine list perfect for lazy afternoons and pre-dinner tipples.
