Morning After
Corner Vulture And Cambridge Street, West End
Named for the hazy dawn after a night of regret, these guys are masters of getting you back on your feet, and they're mighty good looking to boot. Their all day menu is an eclectic motley featuring breakfast carbonara, loaded blueberry hotcake, truffle mushroom and leek croquettes and even a fancy version of a McMuffin. Basically, whatever your hangover poison, Morning After has you covered.
Superthing

You won't just love Superthing for their baked goods and brunches, you'll also fall in love with their pastel pink decor, complete with a neon lit pastry rolling room you can view through glass walls and cosy pink booths to get comfy on. As for the food, you'll be hard pressed to choose between the incredible line-up of baked goods or the lengthy list of breakfast dishes—so you'll just have to get both.
Lokal + Co
6 O'Connell Street, West End
These guys are our Nordic reps in the west. Crafting modern dishes from fresh, seasonal ingredients, Lokal + Co’s offerings include breakfast like leek and manchego cheese croquettes and three cheese omelette, alongside some piquant curveballs like their salmon gravlax with potato and pea pakoras. Décor-wise, Lokal + Co really nails it with clean lines and rose gold fittings you'll want to 'gram on the spot.
Alphabet Cafe
243 Boundary Street, West End
As well as serving up some of the best baked goods in West End, and greater Brisbane, has a menu of scrumptious breakfasts, all of it dished up in the surrounds of their cute cottage setting. Be warned though, no matter how big your breakfast choice is, you’ll want to take one, maybe even a couple of their sweet treats home for dessert.
The Gunshop Cafe

At this stage, it’s fair to call The Gunshop a West End institution. The laid-back relaxed atmosphere, cosy outdoor eatery and delightful menu make it a real crowd pleaser, every day of the year. Their staple Gunshop classics, like potato and feta hash cakes, are complemented by seasonal treats like Szechuan-style fried chicken and waffle or coconut and passionfruit French toast.

Picnic
111 Boundary Street, West End
With a cafe space as beautiful as the breakfast dishes coming out of their kitchen, Picnic is a lush spot to spend the morning, especially when it means you can chow down on feeds from head chef Jill like caramelized fig french toast topped with cherry jam, dulce de leche, yuzu mascarpone and pistachio crumb. Situated in the buzzing West Village, you can get some shopping done afterwards, or just order a second coffee and people watch for an hour or two.
Grown Cafe
3/21 Buchanan Street, West End
Spruiking sustainability and locally sourced ingredients, e is a wonderland of options, and you won't be able to stop at one visit—the creative menu simply won't allow it. And they do dinner too? We're truly impressed by their work ethic. Pre-3pm however, you can try and choose between the likes of slow cooked beef taco bowls, forest mushrooms on toast and smashed avo with a zucchini salsa, yuzu marmalade and macadamia dukkah twist.
NYC Bagel Deli

Wary of inauthentic bagelries spoiling your breakfast? Never fear, these guys are the real McCoy. If you fancy yourself a bagel with ‘the lot’ check out the flavour-packed Club, otherwise you can’t go wrong with NYC's classic cream cheese shmear. There's a handful of tables where you can sit down to your chosen stack, or of course, you can take it away to make a mess with in private.
Cafe Disco
60 Hardgrave Road, West End
, where have you been all our lives? This 40-seat West End dining room oozes homey, sunshiney vibes (yes, there are red checkered tablecloths) complete with a bright yellow facade. If you’re looking for your new happy place, we suspect it might just be Cafe Disco. The menu draws inspiration from owner Tasfeen Hassan’s upbringing in Bangladesh. Emphasis on inspiration: the menu is really an ode to the tastes that raised him, rather than an authentic nod. Think lamb koftas piled into house made pita and topped with mint chutney, yoghurt sauce and house made pickles. Or why not try their breakfast version? Stuffed with a poached egg, masala potatoes, herb salad, jammy onions, yoghurt sauce and pickles.
Cordeaux Social Club
462 Montague Road, West End
Part cafe, part wine bar, serves up breakfast seven days a week from their sunny West End corner. Nab a table in their outdoor courtyard to tuck into an ever-changing array of seasonal brunches, from continental spreads of smoked salmon and soft boiled eggs to scrambled eggs with avocado.
