Would you be more likely to head over to glorious Stradbroke Island for a day trip if all it took to get there was a one hour ferry ride from the city? Yeah, us too—which is why we’re pretty excited about the latest news from .

Their newest Straddie Shuttle route mean that as of 1 March, we'll able to head down to Hamilton Northshore for a coffee, then hop on a boat which will ferry us over to Straddie in under an hour—less than the time it takes most north siders to drive over to Cleveland to reach the ferry terminal there currently.

If you are a south or eastsider, there's also a Manly departure option that will get you to the island in just 30 minutes, which is about the same time as the passenger ferry from Cleveland, only minus the lengthy drive. Of course, the River To Bay boat is significantly smaller and not quite as smooth, so this is not the one to book if you're packing a suitcase or two—you might even get a bit wet from sea spray on the way over.

For anyone keen to chuck a towel in their beach bag and get going though, a return ticket will set you back $66 from Hamilton or $33 from Manly, with departures from 7am and return trips right up until 5pm. If it means we don’t have to sit in traffic for 45 minutes before we even get on the boat, we’ll take it. You can get all the details and book your trip .
