8 Of The Best Pram-Friendly Walks In Brisbane

By

Lady smiling as she takes her kids for a walk in a pram along a street.

Ah, the pram. A modern-day transportation miracle. Strap that baby in and walk to your heart's content. Oh, there's a flight of 50 million stairs. Excellent. Ok, ok don't lose hope. We’ve collated the best pram-friendly walks in Brisbane for you and bub to smash.

Whether you just want to get out and about in the fresh air and actually get active in that activewear you’ve been wearing all day or you’re one of those poor souls whose baby will only sleep in a gently moving pram (or a carrier—a blessedly flat walk will work for those too), here’s where to take your very, very expensive seat on wheels.

New Farm To Newstead Riverwalk

New Farm, Teneriffe And Newstead

You were doing hot girl walks there followed by pregnant waddles and now it's time to whip that pram out for the beautifully concreted paths of the New Farm/Newstead Riverwalk. From the refreshing waterfront breeze to the relaxing trees and cute doggos to keep your wandering eyes busy–it's a classic. There’s a tricky bit involving narrow roadside footpaths between New Farm Park and the Merthyr Road Bowls Club that you may want to avoid, but otherwise it’s smooth sailing the whole way around.

South Bank River Loop

South Brisbane And CBD

We are talking about the over-bridge walk here, you know, the one you’ve probably done slightly lit from Riverstage back to the mainland (just across the river to be able to score an Uber)—only this time you’re going to cross the Goodwill Bridge AND the Kurilpa Bridge to get back to wherever you started from. There’s some gentle uphills to get your heart pumping just a little, but the soaring bridges overlooking the river could not be more picturesque, or more smooth on that faithful pram's wheels.

Bicentennial Bikeway

Toowong And Milton

Now, be warned, this walking route is often jam-packed. That doesn’t mean it's not worth the strut and stroll though, the people watching is A1, that river breeze is borderline illegally good and there's bike and runner segregation so you don’t have to worry about being run over by a cyclist in a hurry.

Berrinba Wetlands

Browns Plains

There's about 8 kilometres of walking tracks at the wetlands and much to our joy, the whole thing is mega pram friendly. There are picnic spots throughout this natural haven, which has 100 nesting boxes for birds, possums and gliders, so it sort of serves hike vibes without the nightmarish terrain. Plus, there's a fun-filled playground in case you’ve got a walker who also needs to work out some energy along the walk.

Boondall Wetlands

Boondall

On the edge of Moreton Bay between Nudgee Beach, Boondall and Shorncliffe lie the Boondall Wetlands and their glorious boardwalks. There are heaps of different tracks to choose from, and enough birds and wildlife around to make for a lasting game of eye-spy. There are also picnic facilities at the Nudgee Beach Picnic Area and a playground as well.

Rocks Riverside Promenade

Seventeen Mile Rocks

After something a little less hectic? The Rocks Riverside Promenade is the one for you and bub. A quiet meandering pram-friendly walk right along some prime water frontage. It features some gentle hills and nice and wide paved paths and is truly a chill walker's dream. Along the way there are also picnic tables and even a playground with a flying fox.

Wynumm To Manly Esplanade

Wynumm And Manly

Seafront walks sans the long ass drive to the coast is what you score on the Wynumm to Manly Esplanade. Bub won't sleep anywhere but the pram for some reason? With around 10km return’s worth of beautiful, paved, flat waterfront strolling terrain you are SO sorted. Hats and sunscreen are a must for this walk as the summer sun reflects riiight off that water. Pandanus beach (the one you can swim in) is on the way, as well as a waterpark and tidal swimming pool.

Sandgate And Shorncliffe Foreshore

Sandgate And Shorncliffe

Another coastal stroll, this 6km return-long bayside walk is a pram-pushers dream. It's truly one of Brisbane's best (and easiest) walks with beautiful real estate, prime picnic spots and playgrounds to stop at on the way to the jetty at Shorncliffe. There's a perfect string of cafes and restaurants along the way too for that perfect walking coffee.
