Newnham Hotel

This Mount Gravatt staple has just reopened after a massive transformation, complete with a brand new bistro, outdoor deck and best of all, kids play area. Priding itself as a family-friendly pub, the stylish new beer garden directly overlooks the playground, so you can enjoy a brew and a plate of cauliflower popcorn while the kids run themselves ragged. There's even free kids' entertainment from 11am on the weekends, including face painting, balloon animals and more, plus an extensive kids menu if you plan on hanging around for dinner. 

The Glen Hotel 

Corner Logan Road And Gaskell Street, Eight Mile Plains

outdoor playground is frankly so good the kids will be asking you to go to the pub, not the other way around. Featuring a double slide, tractor and caterpillar tunnel tube, it's easily overlooked from the verandah dining area, and is covered in shadecloths for sunny afternoons. A good pub feed isn't the only reason to head here either—they've got their own dessert cafe, doughnut and coffee shop and even a pizza eatery.

Another suburban local that's had a total transformation, has just reopened with a new sun-drenched beer garden adorned in picnic tables and festoon lights, plus the largest kids playground in the area, making it the perfect family day out. The bistro and menu have also had a refresh, with ten different dishes on the kids menu alone and a DIY soft serve station if they finish off everything on their plate (or you know, eat at least one chicken nugget). 

The Hills Of Rivermakers

Inside the sprawling riverside complex that is the heritage-listed Hills Of Rivermakers, you'll find The Roadhouse & Brewery, a brew pub and eatery complete with a wooden playground right outside. Bonus, while the two-level play structure is bound to keep the kids occupied long enough for you to enjoy a glass of wine and a steak burger, if they start getting antsy, there's also an entire indoor play area upstairs, plus a petting zoo next door from Friday to Sunday.

Dig into a low and slow cooked butchers board with beef brisket, lamb ribs, slaw, corn bread and sauces as the kids run riot on the fenced outdoor playground (and yes, there is a kids BBQ menu). 

Salisbury Hotel

If you haven’t been to  in a while, make the trip to check out their newly renovated digs. Not only is Salisbury rocking a whole new look and feel, but they’ve also freshened things up with a playground and outdoor kids’ area. Even the kids’ menu has been revitalised, featuring classic pub faves right next to the adults’ section packed with hearty farmhouse-style meals.

After an impressive $1.5 million renovation, has been transformed into a family-friendly hub that will keep everyone happy. With a brand new kids area for the little ones and an outdoor dining terrace where everyone can relax, there’s also a new menu of pub classics to tuck into. The Parmigeddon section is where it’s at, with options that include The Mac And Three-Cheese, topped with three-cheese macaroni, and The Outback, loaded up with pulled pork, BBQ sauce, mozzarella, fried egg and onion rings. 

Pineapple Hotel

If you’ve never been to the , here is your official invite to make it your new family local. This Brisbane institution has been around for over 150 years and we’re happy to report that they consistently serve up good times for kiddos and grown-ups alike. On top of the obligatory kids’ menu of mini pub faves and high chairs on hand, they also have a fenced playground inside the pub itself.

In even better news, kids eat free every single Friday, with every full price meal and drink purchased by the adults.
