12 Of The Pinkest Places In Brisbane Where You Can Live Out Your Barbie-Core Dreams

By

Is it just us, or did the whole world suddenly get a whole lot pinker? Thanks to the Barbie movie (or should that be movement), a certain colour is popping off lately as Barbie-core becomes the aesthetic of choice for everyday life. If just dressing yourself in shades of fuschia isn't enough for you, we've rounded up a heap of Brisbane venues sporting a vibrant shade of pink on their walls, their ceilings, their floors and most of all, all over their ‘gram. Whether millennial pink is your preferred Instagram aesthetic or you're just really channeling Fashion Designer Barbie right now, here’s the places where you'll be surrounded by endless shades of pink.

Ping Pong

Newstead

One of Newstead’s newest additions, Ping Pong is a modern Thai restaurant decked out with hot pink interiors, including pink walls, pink floors, pink chairs, a pink bar and pink menus— basically, you name it, and it will be pink. These guys aren’t just popular for their ‘grammability though—while it might be the decor that gets you through the door, it’s the flavoursome Thai food that will keep you coming back for seconds, thirds and fourths.

Mama Taco

West End

With pastel pink walls and a mural depicting a dusky pink desert to gaze at, dining at Mama Taco will make you feel like you’ve taken a trip to Mexico—and that’s before you even take a peek at the mezcal list. You won’t find a greasy plate of nachos in sight here, instead the menu is all about authentic Mexican feeds, from soft shelled tacos to rich, spicy mole.

Polo Espresso

Milton

Even your morning coffee hit can be given a Barbie makeover thanks to , a bright pink containership cafe on Park Road in Milton. We’ve got extreme jealousy for their hot pink coffee machine. If you don’t have to rush off, you can take a seat under a pink and white striped umbrella before you start your day.

Vicalates

Newstead

Simple white room with splashes of baby pink on the walls and hotter pink decor

Get your stretch on at Vicalates pilates studio, a pink haven for local fitness fanatics. It’s not just the glam entryway where you’ll find plenty of pink walls and matching artwork providing the perfect background for your post-workout IG story—the studio itself features pink columns amongst the reformer beds, and after your sesh you can pamper yourself in the all pink powder room, which comes stocked with matching pink beauty products.

Superthing Bakery

West End

With plenty of sweet and savoury baked goods, not to mention a menu of epic brunches, Superthing Bakery will take you straight to Paris and rightfully so. Seated in one of their pink booths, you’ll definitely get a crick in your neck gazing up at the pink ceiling (and wondering how many cans of spray paint it took to finish), and if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to watch one of the bakers rolling out croissant pastry in the rainbow lit, glass-walled pastry room.

Bear Boy Espresso

Windsor

It might not look like it from its greenery-adorned front facade, but inside Bear Boy Espresso you’ll find a minimalist coral-coloured interior, with a pink marble counter stretching down one side. If you’re lucky, the curved booth in one corner will be free when you rock up, and you can spend your entire brunch ‘gramming to your heart’s content.

Comuna Cantina

Brisbane CBD And Everton Park

What do you get when you combine dessert vibes with a dusky rose colour palette? The schmick interiors at Comuna Cantina of course. Nab yourself one of their pink geometric print plush booths amongst the terracotta pots and cacti prints and you can sip on one of the Latin American-inspired eateries many pink cocktails—chief among them the Comuna Candyman, with vodka, elderflower liqueur, pomegranate and raspberry syrups, cranberry juice and a candy rim.

Desordre

Fortitude Valley

If it’s a spot of shopping you’re hoping to tick off in a pink wonderland, Desordre is here to fulfill all your changeroom montage needs. Recently opened just off James Street, this designer boutique is all pink everywhere, from the walls to the shelves and even more than a few of the party outfits. Barbie would be in heaven.

Miss Midgely’s

New Farm

While this heritage hotel on James Street in New Farm isn’t entirely pink, there’s certainly enough shades of it throughout the boutique apartments to please anyone chasing a Barbie-core inspired staycay. From the massive plush pink couch in each of the accommodations to the gloriously pink tiled bathrooms and pink front, is no stranger to a salmon, coral or fuschia.

Casa Chow

Woolloongabba

One of Brisbane’s prettiest restaurants, Casa Chow also joins the ranks as one of our pinkest, with a row of cosy booths draped in pastel curtains with chandeliers overhead. If Barbie was looking for somewhere to dine, this is absolutely where she’d pick.
